Why college student athlete should receive compensation

In the 20th century, Colligate sports had became a major essential to American society. Every Saturday afternoon in the fall most of the country tunes in to ESPN, CBS, ABC, NBC, and
Fox to watch college football. Even on a Saturday afternoon in the middle of February, college basketball can be watched on ESPN and CBS.And in the spring, many games of the College World Series are shown. I named several different broadcasting stations right? There are many different aspects where beneficial income can be received by the NCAA (“National Collegiate,” 2013). Wonder how much income that brings into the university? Enough to give each student athlete compensation or salary of some sort. Although most college student athletes have full ride scholarships, most still need more income , other organization are making thousands of dollars off of their athletic abilities , and the student athletes cannot have jobs.

The NCAA Profiting off Student Athlete

The NCAA is supposedly a non-profit organization to the public eye. On the contrary, the NCAA has so many different organization that pitch into their sells and techniques. CBS Sports network signed a 14 year 10.6 billion dollar deal with the NCAA (Hartnett, 2013). The student athletes earn their schools millions of dollars, increase enrollment, and provide recruiting piece for generation. For example the company Nike sells several colligate jerseys every year.  But none of this money is giving to the student athletics who shows their talents and efforts every day. And other organizations are benefitting off of student athlete at these universities and college
